Twitter Chat: Melanoma and Immunotherapy

Never joined a Twitter chat? At its most basic, a Twitter chat (or a tweet chat) happens when a group of users log on to Twitter at an appointed time to discuss a particular topic. A hashtag is used to flag the conversation as separate from the general conversation.

Twitter chats have become a staple in the world of online cancer support communities. As a former breast cancer patient, I personally participate in Breast Cancer Social Media (#bcsm) on Monday nights, which focuses on different topics around breast cancer. Lung Cancer Social Media (#lcsm) is another popular chat that occurs every other Thursday. Some Twitter chats happen regularly, like #bcsm, others are sporadic, and others are one-time only.
