A Makeup Artist Turned Cancer Fundraiser

After seeing a friend back in Australia raise $10,000 on her own for the World’s Greatest Shave—where people have their heads shaved in support of blood cancer research—makeup artist Jessica Haze was inspired to do something similar. Like many, Jessica felt the need for action after witnessing two family friends receive a cancer diagnosis and having a client die from the disease.

With over 100,000 followers on social media, Jessica had an excellent platform for going big in her fundraising, so she set an ambitious goal of raising $100,000, and decided that the Cancer Research Institute’s high charity rating and commitment to funding research made it a worthy beneficiary. Additionally, she wanted to support an organization that focused on curing all cancers, leaving no cancer patient behind.

If every one of her followers gives one dollar, Jessica will hit her goal. To incentivize them to give, Jessica drew on her relationships with makeup companies to create an amazing prize raffle package. The positive response from companies was very exciting, and Jessica hopes that energy will translate to everyone who hears about her campaign and encourages them to donate.
